What are you layering your life with…
…and what is the purpose behind it?
Often we put our hands up for things as a knee jerk reaction to an emotion OR our idealised version of ourselves (whose capacity is simply endless…)
…joining the school something or other because that equals being a good, connected parent…
…taking on or getting involved in tasks for our friends because that means that we are involved in their lives…
…taking on that extra project at work or simply picking up the slack, great co-worker or employee…
…all the extra activities…so we don’t miss out… kids don’t miss out…
…running elderly parents everywhere
Life starts getting busy, the pressure mounts as does the resentment, stress, and anxiety…
…in equal proportion, areas of self-care starts dropping off… to fit more in…
The next phase for many people is to then to catch a case of the ‘ poor me’s ‘ before throwing on the Superwoman mantle and ploughing forward again and trying to keep all the balls in the air…
…and judging themselves poorly for not managing it all with ease and grace (phew… that’s exhausting, isn’t it?
Let me suggest a new way… simply recognise it by asking yourself a question…
Am I starting to layer again?
If the answer is yes then maybe it is time to do a Life Check-in, a quick quiz to see the areas of your life where you are stuck or that are not currently working for you. When you see it in black and white – then an internal shift starts to happen for you…
Mantra for the week: “Saying NO is self-care”
